Could the Xinit script stop creating multiple .serverauth.XXXX files?

Description
Doing an ls ~/.serverauth* reveals around ~40 files that are just polluting my home directory dating as far back as last year's November.
Some searching around took me to the URL above linked which describes what is happening. Even if you are going to somehow argue that "unclean" shutdowns should not be taken into account, the script is behaving badly when it allows such file pollution.
- Why can't the script settle down into a single file name?
- If not, shouldn't the script have some way of clearing old files?
If the reasoning of the multiple file names is that you can launch multiple displays at a time, each one with their own server auth cookie, then why not use something that's less chaotic than using seemingly random numbers? (for instance, ~/.serverauth.0 for display :0, and so on).
I am surprised I couldn't find a bug report on this matter through searching... I am sure it would had been brought up before.
