setxkbmap doesn't show active layout when more that one layout is configured

I have 3 layouts configured on my system

$ setxkbmap -option 'grp:alt_shift_toggle' -layout us,bg,de -model pc105

When I use the -query option, all configured layouts are shown and there is no way to query the currently active layout

$ setxkbmap -query
rules:      evdev
model:      pc105
layout:     us,bg,de
options:    grp:alt_shift_toggle
