Request to move the friulian keyboard to main set
I'd like to ask to bring the friulian keyboard from the extra set to the main set of keyboards. I'm in contact with the Public Agency for the friulian language here in Udine, and they strongly support this cause. Here is their e-mail they wanted to attach to this issue-request:
"ARLeF (Agjenzie Regjonâl pe Lenghe Furlane), is the Public Agency of Friuli Venezia Giulia Autonomous Region in charge of the promotion and protection of the Friulian language.
Friulian is a Rhaeto-Romance language spoken by around 700,000 people in the Friuli Venezia Giulia and Veneto regions in northeastern Italy.
Interest in protecting and promoting the Friulian language and culture has increased exponentially since 1950. Friulian is now recognized as a minority language at a regional, national and European level and can be used in the affairs of town councils and in provincial and regional administrations. It is to be found in place names and is taught in schools.
ARLeF has developed a series of instruments in order to facilitate the use of the Friulian language among the greatest amount of users. Among them, a friulian keyboard has been implemented for iOs and for some Android keybords, while in order to have it in Windows it is necessary to have a tool provided by ARLeF (https://arlef.it/). Friulian language is also available in the installation of Fedora, but the friulian keyboard is only available on the extra set of keyboards and it is not available by default.
Considering the problem that emerges on Fedora’s installation process and keeping in mind the status of Friulian, which is officialy recognized as a minority language, I would like to stress the extreme importance of adding the friulian keyboard to the main set.
Thank you for your time.
Best Regards.
