xdg-open executable filetype
when i try to use xdg-open with an exe file, i see my brower being launched instead.
like this: xdg-open /some/path/my_exe_file
actualy does this: www-browser /some/path/my_exe_file
apparently xdg-open / xdg-mime doesn't know what to do with executables filetype. please consider this:
$ file my_exe_file
my_exe_file: ELF 64-bit LSB executable, x86-64, version 1 (GNU/Linux), dynamically linked, interpreter /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2, for GNU/Linux 2.6.32, BuildID[sha1]=7b881c37c7e49c7d8950ef4f9b1fe5c4a79bf399, not stripped
$ xdg-mime query filetype my_exe_file
application/x-executable
$ xdg-mime query default application/x-executable
(returns nothing)
$ xdg-open my_exe_file
(browser pops up)
so xdg-mime knows there is such a filetype as "application/x-executable". but there is no action associated to those, and i don't know what to put there. am i supposed to create an 'execute.desktop' file of some sort? if yes, what to put in it then? how can i use xdg-open to correctly allow me to run files that are of type "application/x-executable" ?
