Can't enable external monitor with NVIDIA multi-GPU

On wlroots 0.16, I can't enable my external monitor. I am on a NVIDIA gpu (RTX 3070) laptop where external displays connect to the dgpu and the integrated display goes through the igpu. The error message is the same as in issue #3451 (closed), see also here. I use the open source NVIDIA drivers.

To upload designs, you'll need to enable LFS and have an admin enable hashed storage. More information
