Weston failure with external monitor connected and DRM backend

Running weston leads to a freezing screen and nothing new displayed, when connecting to an external monitor. Running weston with only the laptop display works fine. In addition, running weston with --use-pixman or --backend=fbdev-backend.so has not issue.
