Firefox crashes with `xdg_surface buffer does not match the configured state`

Using Debian Sid/unstable with 32-bit user space and with Weston 8.0 and Firefox 73.0.1, starting Firefox

MOZ_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 firefox

it crashes with xdg_surface buffer does not match the configured state.

Sometimes the Firefox window is visible, sometimes it’s not. It seems to work better with Sway WM on the same system.

To upload designs, you'll need to enable LFS and have an admin enable hashed storage. More information
