gnome-shell 100% CPU usage

From time to time I see gnome-shell is using 100% CPU after I connect my laptop to a docking station (with 2 monitors). I am running GNOME under wayland and I guess this is wayland bug, so filing it here.

When I run strace on gnome-shell, I see tons of ioctls(DRM_IOCTL_I915_GEM_*) on /dev/dri/card0 (see strace output: out).

I'm running Fedora 31 with latest updates on a ThinkPad T490s laptop

$ rpm -qa | grep wayland
libwayland-client-1.17.0-2.fc31.x86_64
libwayland-cursor-1.17.0-2.fc31.x86_64
xorg-x11-server-Xwayland-1.20.6-1.fc31.x86_64
libwayland-server-1.17.0-2.fc31.x86_64
gnome-session-wayland-session-3.34.2-2.fc31.x86_64
libwayland-egl-1.17.0-2.fc31.x86_64
qt5-qtwayland-5.13.2-2.fc31.x86_64

$ rpm -q gnome-shell
gnome-shell-3.34.3-1.fc31.x86_64
