Description
This is a follow-up from bug https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=291099
When disconnecting / reconnecting the AC adapter plug, there's no state change to 'unplugged' or 'plugged' resp. As a result, there's no change in power profile.
However, as soon as 'acpi -a' is typed in a terminal, things are coming alive. Same thing with 'cat /sys/class/power_supply/AC/online'.
If acpid is running, everything works as expected, so that's a workaround for me.
Detection of battery discharge / charge works as expected in any case.
I'm sort guessing this is a kernel bug and not a upower bug, but i'll just follow the path upstream. :)
Linux dv6 3.1.9-2-ARCH #1 (closed) SMP PREEMPT Sat Jan 14 09:11:37 CET 2012 x86_64 Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2670QM CPU @ 2.20GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux
HP Pavilion Dv6-6B41ed
Using KDE 4.7.4.
Things work as expected in Windows 7 on the same hardware.
upower -d suggests that there's no update of the AC battery status in upower:
Device: /org/freedesktop/UPower/devices/line_power_AC native-path: /sys/devices/LNXSYSTM:00/device:00/ACPI0003:00/power_supply/AC power supply: yes updated: Sun Jan 15 16:08:37 2012 (1252 seconds ago) has history: no has statistics: no line-power online: yes
the 'updated' counter will just continue and 'online' will stay on 'yes' no matter if AC is plugged in or not.
