Salut avatars doesn't appear in Pidgin

Description
As reported in http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=577946 the avatars set by Salut are not displayed by Pidgin. Apparantly we have some interop issues with Gajim and iChat as well. This should be investigated.
