Missing the right way to change config files in /usr/share/pulseaudio/alsa-mixer/paths
One might want to change files under /usr/share/pulseaudio/alsa-mixer/paths/
directory. Their names suggest that these are config files. In my particular case I would like to force volume of "Internal Mic Boost" to remain constantly zero because otherwise it gives bad distortion (I had this issue before and now it repeats another laptop).
But there seems to be no proper way to override serrings of /usr/share/pulseaudio/alsa-mixer/paths/analog-input-internal-mic.conf
. This file is managed by package manager and will be overwritten after pulseaudio package upgrade, a user should not change it.
One might expect that pulseaudio respects XDG_DATA_HOME standard and place conf file updated to his needs under $HOME/.local/share/pulseaudio/alsa-mixer/paths/
. I tried that, but file under this location is ignored.
Well, then one might expect that at least XDG_DATA_DIRS standard is taken into account. Nope, files under /usr/local/share/pulseaudio/alsa-mixer/paths/
are ignored as well.
User is forced to change file /usr/share/pulseaudio/alsa-mixer/paths/
which is wrong.
