No sound after suspend and resume
Warning
Missing data may cause bugs to languish.
Summary
After I suspend and resume my computer, sound stops working in all applications. After I use pasuspender to restart PulseAudio, sound starts working again. Maybe this is a specific hardware issue where the hardware doesn't wake up properly after resume? I don't understand this system well enough to know.
I can reproduce this 100% simply by suspending and resuming, so I'm happy to help provide any additional information required.
Environment
pa-info.txt (normal conditions) pa-info-no-sound.txt (after a resume when there is a problem)
I included both files even though they don't appear to be significantly different.
I have the pulseaudio-bluetooth package installed. I don't know if this is normally installed by default. On Arch Linux it's optional, so I installed it manually.
Steps to reproduce
- (Optional) Play some music.
- Suspend my computer.
- Resume it again.
- The application now believes it is producing sound, but nothing comes out my speakers.
- Workaround: run
pasuspender /bin/true
(mentioned on the Arch wiki). - Sound immediately starts playing out the speakers again.
What is the current bug behavior?
After I suspend my computer and resume it, sound does not play until I use my workaround.
What is the expected correct behavior?
Sound should continue to play correctly after a suspend and resume.
