pulseaudio 13.0 - bluetooth HSP/HFP Function not implemented

Summary
When using the bluetooth headset Sony MDR-XB950N1, switching to HSP/HFP mode fails and pulseaudio logs the error "function not implemented".

Check to see if you have pa-info installed by running which pa-info
If yes please run it

Steps to reproduce
Connect bluetooth headset, try to switch to HSP/HFP mode to use the microphone. See the error message in the journal/syslog.
What is the current bug behavior?
Switching fails, the microphone is not usable
What is the expected correct behavior?
Switching succeeds, the microphone is usable
