Are the colorimetry and HDR infoframes orthogonal?

CTA-861 defines a Dynamic Range and Mastering InfoFrame as well as a Color Component Sample Format and Colorimetry with the AVI InfoFrame Colorimetry Fields.

From my reading of the spec the HDR infoframe only specifies the transfer characteristics as well as content metadata and the colorimetry infoframe only specifies the container color primaries and white point.

Exceptions being the HDR infoframe "native gamma" transfer characteristics which either uses the transfer function of SMPTE ST 170 or Rec. ITU-R BT.709 if they are specified in the colorimetry infoframe or the gamma from the EDID if not.

What happens when you mix SMPTE ST 170 / Rec. ITU-R BT.709 with PQ or HLG transfer characteristics?
