The problematic file
Opening the attached PDF file in Okular (original report: [1]) is extremely slow, even though the file itself is very small.
I've tested opening it with MuPDF and Adobe Reader and both opened the file instantly.
Tested with poppler 0.26.0 and 0.24.5

I have done some debugging, #1126 which seems quite similar in behavior. However, in that issue, it is hinted that the problem is related to cairo. Indeed, running evince under perf there clearly signals that the most busy paths are under libcairo. However, with the PDF attached in this issue, the hot path ([perf.data](/uploads/4c70084ab66abf1324ad0625005a49a4/perf.data)) seems completely different, with 95% of the time spent under a function called `cmsReverseToneCurveEx`, apparently coming from `cmsCreateTransform` lcms2. I also run the `pdf-inspector`, which showed that most of the time is spent in operator `"TJ"`.
I would appreciate some guidance or comments on how to approach this. I would like to give it a try, but right now I seem to be quite far in my understanding to get through it.
Thanks a lot for your time!

## Description
On Ubuntu using Poppler 0.32.0
Rasterizing a single-page PDF at a 150 DPI resolution using pdftoppm takes about 7600 seconds at ~100%. The same PDF takes about 10 seconds to rasterize using Ghostscript.
I've run the following command for pdftoppm:
pdftoppm -cropbox -thinlinemode solid -r 150 -gray /path/to/slow.pdf /path/to/slow.ppm
And this one for gs:
gs -sDEVICE=tiffgray -sOutputFile=/path/to/slow.tiff -r150 -dBATCH -dNOPAUSE /path/to/slow.pdf
Since the PDF is sensitive, I'll need to send it via email to whomever is interested.
Any help would be appreciated. The attached document takes around 30 seconds to re-render, each time you change the window size in Evince.
I consider the document successfully "re-rendered" when
- The text is sharp again
- Evince's UI is responsive
