Pattern rendered almost black instead of light grey

PDFJS-8741-p1-patternscaling.pdf

The PDF is from the PDF.js project https://github.com/mozilla/pdf.js/issues/8741

Expected rendering (illusion of grey):

PDFJS-8741-p1-patternscaling.pdf-1

Actual rendering (illusion of black) with pdftoppm (version 0.88.0 of cygwin):

PDFJS-8741-p1-patternscaling-1

The effect is also there when using higher dpi (I tried 1200).
