misrendering of certain pdf bar plots

Originally reported at https://github.com/matplotlib/matplotlib/issues/12864: at certain zoom levels, evince renders the attached pdf with "inverted" bars (screenshots in the linked issue).

Per https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evince/issues/1056#note_401801, this appears to be a bug on poppler's side, reproducible with

$ pdftocairo -png -scale-to 2600 test.pdf
To upload designs, you'll need to enable LFS and have an admin enable hashed storage. More information
