stable/devel release split

configure.ac, when autotools was still in pixman, used to contain this:

#   - Released development versions have an odd MINOR number
#
#   - Released stable versions have an even MINOR number

Could you clarify if it's still the case after dropping autotools or whether all releases are considered "stable" now?
