Bluetooth volume broken with Philips BH305

I'm using a Philips BH305 headset in A2DP mode with Pipewire 0.3.23. The system uses an Intel Bluetooth controller.

Changing the volume does not do anything. It's stuck at maximum. Pipewire reports:

pipewire-media-session[5427]: device 0x56242051f550: node 1 not ready for volume yet

This used to work perfectly with an older PipeWire version a few weeks ago, but I don't remember which one. Is there any information I can provide to help debug this?
