Chromium Microphone usage blocks bitwig from creating jack client

Hi,

I just started using pipewire as complete replacement for my jack/pulseaudio setup. It's working great and I must thank you for creating pipewire, it's very promising.

But there is one thing that is stopping me from actual using it.

My Microphone setup involves bitwig where I apply a couple of usual vocal effects like compressor, EQ and limiter, the Mic is connected though a berhinger UMC1820 audio interface. This works just fine with native Jack. I have a pulseaudio sink/source where my mic runs though and which I use in chromium for livestreaming/meets.

As the title suggests, it is sadly not working with pipewire.

Steps to reproduce:

  • In Chromium/Firefox open a webpage that uses the microphone e.g. google meet or jitsi-meet
  • Start bitwig
  • bitwig tries to create it's jack client, but it can't and deactivates the audio engine, I can see the jackclient in carla or qjackctl for a fraction of a second.

When stopping the mic usage from the browser, bitwig happily create its client and I can route my audio stream to where I want it to be.

since I'm super new to pipewire, I don't know where to start on fixing this. Can someone point me in the right direction, please?
