Part of warning (terminal?) bell sound is repeated

In the GNOME control center you can set the warning sound effect under the sound properties, which I currently have set to "Glass". When selecting it here, GNOME plays a preview, which plays fine, but when it is played in Firefox (e.g. with Ctrl-F and typing something that doesn't exist on the page), or by entering echo -e "\a" in a terminal, you hear the sound playing, and it repeats a very small part of the start, i.e. the "Ting!" sound plays like "Ting!T".

This doesn't happen on PulseAudio for me and happens on all my audio devices, even internal laptop or monitor speakers. This is with master at 419d0ad7.
