Daily usage papercuts
I'm opening this ticket as a general, index-them-all issue to keep track of the papercuts and small regressions when using PipeWire as the one and only audio engine:
-
GNOME Settings doesn't list "System Sounds" anymore -
Some sounds (volume up, volume down) are not played (#351 (closed)) -
USB DAC (Scarlett 4i4) doesn't have an icon in GNOME Settings' Sound panel -
When switching songs with apps talking to PulseAudio (e.g. Rhythmbox, Spotify Flatpak), a small fragment of the current song is played before the next song starts -
"System Sounds" present but not implemented -
Changing volume too quickly confuses GNOME Shell / PipeWire (the volume is set to odd values like 70% → 60% → 100% → 40% ...) -
The volume-up/down samples have some noise, or are simply skipped, when playing in parallel -
Switching to any output without an active profile results in no audio
Needs confirmation / debugging / more data:
-
Microphone popping
