pipewire 0.3.44 memory on buffer 0 not aligned
- PipeWire version (
pipewire --version
): 0.3.44 - Distribution and distribution version (
PRETTY_NAME
from/etc/os-release
): Arch Linux - Desktop Environment: sway
- Kernel version (
uname -r
): 5.16.2-arch1-1
Description of Problem:
After upgrading pipewire to version 0.3.44, the system log has started to show messages like:
spa.mixer-dsp: 0x563b729d10f8: memory on buffer 0 not aligned
When playing audio in firefox, mpd, mpv.
And mpd crashes if the sound output is pipewire directly instead of pipewire-pulse.
I'm using Arch Linux. Asked on linux.org.ru about the same problem. One of the people who replied has a linux-zen kernel and doesn't seem to have the same problem.
Version 0.3.43 worked fine.
How Reproducible:
Just start playing audio in firefox, mpv, mpd and you will get one to several of these messages (most often two or three).
Steps to Reproduce:
- Start playing an audio or video file on any known hosting/local in firefox, mpv, mpd.
- Messages appear in the system log.
Actual Results:
Log messages of sorts:
spa.mixer-dsp: 0x563b729d6e38: memory on buffer 0 not aligned
Expected Results:
No messages.

P.S. I'm sorry, I'm using an online translator. Fixed the description of the issue a little bit. Added steps to reproduce. Probably redundant, but more consistent with the template and some other issues.
