Node names and description don't indicate HDMI profiles very well on Lenovo Thinkpad P14s Gens AMD
- Fedora 35
- pipewire 0.3.43
As discussed on IRC, opening an issue against pipewire.
On my Lenovo Thinkpad P14s Gens AMD, the node names and descriptions of the different profiles when connecting an HDMI cable don't indicate their profile at all. The user-friendly names of the profiles when connecting a HDMI cable are quite indistinguishable and don't indicate which ones are for stereo, 5.1 etc. They look as follows
"node.description": "Renoir Radeon High Definition Audio Controller HDMI / DisplayPort 4 Output",
"node.name": "alsa_output.pci-0000_07_00.1.HiFi__hw_Generic_9__sink",
--
"node.description": "Renoir Radeon High Definition Audio Controller HDMI / DisplayPort 3 Output",
"node.name": "alsa_output.pci-0000_07_00.1.HiFi__hw_Generic_8__sink",
--
"node.description": "Renoir Radeon High Definition Audio Controller HDMI / DisplayPort 2 Output",
"node.name": "alsa_output.pci-0000_07_00.1.HiFi__hw_Generic_7__sink",
--
"node.description": "Renoir Radeon High Definition Audio Controller HDMI / DisplayPort 1 Output",
"node.name": "alsa_output.pci-0000_07_00.1.HiFi__hw_Generic_3__sink",
The only thing I found out by now is, that "Renoir Radeon High Definition Audio Controller HDMI / DisplayPort 2 Output" seems to be the stereo output.
