No speaker sound output after sleep

  • PipeWire version (pipewire --version): pipewire Compiled with libpipewire 0.3.43 Linked with libpipewire 0.3.43
  • Distribution and distribution version (PRETTY_NAME from /etc/os-release): Fedora Linux 35 (Workstation Edition)
  • Desktop Environment: Gnome
  • Kernel version (uname -r): 5.16.0-60.fc36.x86_64

Description of Problem:

Laptop speakers work fine. Close laptop lid and re-open it and the laptop speakers are no longer found. I can use bluetooth only until the next reboot.

How Reproducible:

Mostly I believe. Just noticed the coloration

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Use laptop, connect BT headphones.
  2. Enter Sleep mode. Turn off headphones
  3. Wake laptop - speakers are silent

Actual Results:

Sometimes laptop speakers show up in the settings, but clicking test produces no sound. Other times the sound device is absent. Can click the dropdown but there's nothing to select. Also noticed that videos with sound will not start playing until a sound output is discovered. IOW, if I turn on my headphones, any videos that were previously stuck will automatically resume.

Expected Results:

Laptop speakers would produce sound after sleeping
