No sound from module-roc-sink unless volume meter is open

  • PipeWire version (pipewire --version): 0.3.43
  • Distribution and distribution version (PRETTY_NAME from /etc/os-release): Arch Linux
  • Desktop Environment: KDE Plasma Desktop
  • Kernel version (uname -r): 5.15.15-1-lts

Description of Problem:

Applications set to output to a roc-sink can only play sound when at least one volume meter is active (kde volume applet or pavucontrol-qt is open). As soon as all are closed any audio AND video playback to the roc-sink instantly stops until another meter is opened. The same is true if I only un-/check "Show volume meters" in pavu while keeping the window open.

How Reproducible:

Always

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Set up roc-sink (and source on other device)
  2. Start playback, select configured roc-sink as output device
  3. Open any volume meter

Additional Info:

It was the exactly the same when I tried this a few months ago

Relevant packages:

  • pipewire-full-roc-git 0.3.43.r129.gcb077975-1
  • roc-toolkit-git v0.1.5.r41.gc8968733-2
  • plasma-desktop 5.23.5-1
  • pavucontrol-qt 1.0.0-2
