GTK Dialog popup causes audio stutter, new in 0.3.43
- PipeWire version (
pipewire --version
): 0.3.43 - Distribution and distribution version (
PRETTY_NAME
from/etc/os-release
): Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS - Desktop Environment: Gnome
- Kernel version (
uname -r
): 5.11.0-46-generic
Description of Problem:
Audio stutter / crackle when a GTK dialog box pops up (doesn't have to be the same program as playback). This is a new issue in 0.3.43; it didn't happen with 0.3.42.
How Reproducible:
Play audio (I'm playing random mp3 / m4a / opus tracks in Audacious). Use a program that pops up a GTK dialog alert.
{edit} on further investigation, this is harder to reproduce than I thought, and doesn't seem to happen with all / most GTK dialog boxes.
Steps to Reproduce:
- Play a track in Audacious using pipewire-pulse
- Open Control->Hint in Gnome Klondike (the solitare game that comes with Gnome), which will open an alert box that causes audio playback to stutter.
Actual Results:
Audio stutter / pop when dialog box opens.
Expected Results:
Smooth playback
