Sound dropouts and wrong pitch at non-default sampling rates [Debian]
Fedora 34, pipewire with latest updates, default installation, except setting
default.clock.allowed-rates = [ 44100,48000,96000,192000 ]
Since the 0.3.36 upgrade, switching sampling rates in playlists has been an issue. At default sample rate, everything works fine. At other sampling rates, there are dropouts periodically at about every second. Interestingly, pw-top shows that both the sink and software player are at the non-default sampling rate, e.g. 96k. However, the sink will switch between default/lowest sampling rate the the non-default higher sampling rate that the player is using (observed from the display of a usb-DAC). The switching to lower sampling rate is exactly synchron with the sound dropout. The behavior is observed both with an internal INTEL and external USB soundcard.
