Difference between jack/alsa and pw-jack: problems with ardour export/loudness analysis
Dear Wim,
pw-jack (0.3.34) displays some intricate difference to standard jack in Ardour 6.9, tested on two different machines.
Without a monitor section, pw-jack works, just like jackd or alsa.
However, when the monitor is activated, loudness analysis reports "Silence" with pw-jack, whereas with jack and alsa loudness analysis works as expected.
How to reproduce: 0. Import some audio file and mark a (short) range
- Deactivate monitor section (Session|Monitor Section)
- Export range (with analysis) or run loudness analysis from the range context menu. All backends (alsa,jackd,pw-jack) should produce some graph.
- Activate the monitor section
- Under pw-jack, loudness analyis reports "Silence", the other backends are unaffected.
Some things that do not matter (in export): RT vs. freewheeling export, master out vs. track out. Although not thoroughly tested, the problem appears in pw 0.3.33 as well.
As always, I'd be happy to test any fixes.
Cheers,
Berthold
