stderr buffered by pipewire?

I have a program that uses ALSA and communicates with the terminal in raw mode via vt-100 codes through stderr. In Alsa 1.2.5 Fedora 34, I believe that pipewire is changing stderr to be buffered, thus causing my program to hang.
