[i915] Garbled graphics in Valve Games (Intro screen from CS 1.6) and Second Life Linux Viewer
Hello everyone,
I am running openSUSE "Tumbleweed" with the following kernel:
uname -a Linux warren 5.3.12-1-default #1 (closed) SMP Thu Nov 21 07:21:43 UTC 2019 (a6f6081) x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
My graphics hardware is
/sbin/lspci -nnk | grep -A3 "\[03..\]:"
00:00.0 Host bridge [0600]: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/PM/GMS, 943/940GML and 945GT Express Memory Controller Hub [8086:27a0] (rev 03)
Subsystem: Intel Corporation Device [8086:7270]
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:27a2] (rev 03)
Subsystem: Intel Corporation Device [8086:7270]
Kernel driver in use: i915
Kernel modules: i915
The problem that I am facing is that some games show a garbled screen such as "Second Life (Linux Viewer)"
I had to install libgthread-2_0-0-32bit on openSUSE "Tumbleweed" (Rolling Release) to get the application to start. Maybe this is related to 32-Bit.
I am also attaching my console output I got from the game .secondlifeoutput.txt
Please note that the triangular shapes indicated in the second life screen shot also show up in the Counter Strike 1.6 intro screen. So games like "Assault Cube" do run fine.
I have already turned towards my Linux distributor and they thought of a Mesa issue so I came here.
Please let me know should you require any further information. I know the graphic chipset is quite old and will be happy to supply more console output in case you request it.
Have a good week!
