Firefox / VA-API / H.264 decoding artifacts on AMD RX 6600 / Fedora 37

Fedora 37 / mesa-22.3.5-1.fc37.x86_64 There's decoding artifacts on AMD RX 6600 / VA-API / H.264 decoding. Reproducible on AMD RX 6600 only, works on Intel. Firefox downstream bug: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1802844

Reproduction steps:

  1. Download/install Firefox (latest 110.0 for instance)
  2. Go to about:config, set media.ffmpeg.vaapi.enabled to true, restart browser
  3. Playback https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HkIKd6Ps5sc
  4. See broken playback in 2 sec after start
To upload designs, you'll need to enable LFS and have an admin enable hashed storage. More information
