Kitty fails to start with Mesa versions 19.3.0 and 19.3.1, but not 19.2.7

Stderr output from attempting to run kitty (https://sw.kovidgoyal.net/kitty/) version 0.15.1 is as follows:

X Error of failed request: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)
Major opcode of failed request: 130 (MIT-SHM)
Minor opcode of failed request: 3 (X_ShmPutImage)
Serial number of failed request: 332
Current serial number in output stream: 333

The application does not start (no window is shown). The same occurs with mesa versions 19.3.0 and 19.3.1.

With mesa 19.2.7 the program runs normally.

  • OS: Arch Linux (guest os in VirtualBox 6.0.14, on a Windows 10 host)
  • kitty and mesa were installed via pacman from the official Arch Linux repo
  • glxinfo output (with mesa 19.3.1): glxinfo.txt
To upload designs, you'll need to enable LFS and have an admin enable hashed storage. More information
