Describe the issue
A user on the Fedora discourse reported that GNOME renders incorrectly on Fedora 40 Beta on VMware Workstation with 3D acceleration passthrough enabled. With that disabled, it renders correctly. Here's the screenshot they posted:
I think that's meant to be the GNOME Welcome tour screen, almost all of it is missing, and it has those weird magenta corners.
This is related to the new GTK renderer - I asked the reporter to try GSK_RENDERER=gl gnome-control-center
and they say that works fine. It seems similar to #10853 (closed) on the Raspberry Pi, but @jasuarez says it's not the same, so filing this separate issue for it. I don't have any log files etc, but can ask the original reporter to drop by here and attach whatever they have.
Regression
Probably "broke" with the new GTK renderer.
