I have an r9 390, and I had to disable DPM (on Linux 4.2) to get a stable destop. The performance is less than half of r9 290 (which is almost the same GPU) on the same driver.

## Description
I understand that this benchmark might not use the latest version of the Unigine engine, but starting it should not make my machine lock up with actual high-end hardware, especially since the benchmark works flawless on pre-GCN AMD hardware.

syslog (short)
Hi, this is an issue about the fact that some GPU lockup can lead to some CPU burn (for real).
Some hours ago I get a GPU lockup while I was trying to read a DVD with VLC.
The video rendering wasn't functionnal (no picture), then the GPU started to display weird things (see attached photo) then locked up.
I've joined some log, one very long syslog, and some abstract for this one (more easy to read, but I gave you the original one in case of I missed something).
To summarize, you can read lines like that in the syslog:
```
mesa-vdpau-drivers 11.2~git1511231930.e4c122~gd~w
That is a real issue but it's not the topic of this ticket.
The really big problem is this bug almost burned my CPU. I explain.
When the bug occurred, I tried to track it. Instead of rebooting my computer I started a laptop in order to connect to my computer using ssh, and to diagnose some stuff on the living system. While the laptop were booting, I took some photo of my screen.
But suddenly, my computer shutdown itself. The CPU critical temperature was reached.
Normal operation temperature is normally between 30°C and 40°C on my system. In case of emergency, I have two regulators running on my computer. The first one raises fan speed from 128 tr/min to 1400 tr/min when temperature reaches 50°C, and the second one downclocks all the 8 core from 4.7 GHz to 1.4GHz when the temperature reaches 70°C.
Both regulators are userspace regulators. The first is the well-known fancontrol, and the other one is mine. Both works well (if I use cpuburn for example).
The fact is, when the GPU lockup occurred, something from the driver goes wrong on the CPU side. It looks like some infinite loop started on my cores, doing some extensive tasks, probably without having to deal with external components (like central memory unit) in order to never slow done the CPU.
In fact, the computer acted exactly like if I was running one cpuburn process per core using performance cpu governor during a summer noon. But there was an exception, the fan never accelerated (so it was still running at 128 tr/min when the CPU reached 90°, and the cpu was never downclocked too.
That's why I wrote this issue. When this bug occured, the system goes so wrong the CPU was on knees and no regulator was able to control the CPU fan so the CPU endlessly heating.
Hopefully, the internal CPU temperature protection shutdown automatically my computer to save itself. But if someone use a CPU with a faulty temperature safety mechanisme, this GPU lockup can lead to a CPU burn for real !
## Description
Fedora 23, xorg-x11-drv-ati, on a Dell Precision T3500 (latest BIOS, A17) with a RadeonHD 7770 GPU. Running the latest up-to-date stock packages from Fedora.
If I start a game like Xonotic (from the Fedora repos) or Unvanquished (latest alpha binary build downloaded from their github repo), after a minute or two of just looking around as a spectator player, I'll eventually see my computer's monitor turn off all of a sudden. Sound will continue to play for a while, then it might stop/loop. After a few seconds, the kernel will be locked up with the CapsLock LED no longer working.
This also happened to me once simply by watching a video fullscreen in Totem (I'm running GNOME Shell, FWIW), but this is a much rarer occurrence.
Unfortunately I don't have knowledge of debugging such things, and ABRT somehow thinks my kernel is tainted with the "I" status (meaning it's "working around a severe firmware bug"), which I suppose might be the radeon microcode, so I can't get ABRT to create a nice automated retrace/full debug thing for me. But at least it still has stuff stored on disk, if there's anything in there you'd need:
dmesg output
My laptop has the following discrete graphics card (lspci output):
0a:00.0 Display controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Sun LE [Radeon HD 8550M / R5 M230] (rev ff)
When running glxgears (or any graphical application) with DRI_PRIME=1, the window appears but it stays just black (also it does not print any FPS in the console).
After starting glxgears the first time, the GPU locks up (see dmesg.txt).
dmesg
With some uptime I eventually start getting these GPU VM faults:
[106098.543115] VM fault (0x0c, vmid 6) at page 58321, read from TC (68)
[106098.543119] radeon 0000:02:00.0: GPU fault detected: 146 0x0a0c480c
[106098.543121] radeon 0000:02:00.0: VM_CONTEXT1_PROTECTION_FAULT_ADDR 0x0000E3CB
[106098.543123] radeon 0000:02:00.0: VM_CONTEXT1_PROTECTION_FAULT_STATUS 0x0C00800C
It's always the same fault number but the memory addresses(?) change.
See attached dmesg.
My system doesn't crash, but black glitches do appear on the screen and I need to switch desktops or move windows around to make them go away.
KDE desktop with compositing enabled.
I'm running Arch Linux with latest stable packages:
Linux carrier 4.5.4-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Wed May 11 22:21:28 CEST 2016 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Name : xf86-video-ati
Version : 1:7.7.0-1
P.S. I use pci=nommconf because I have massive issues with PCI-E devices otherwise (radeon goes nuts coincidentally).
I've already tried several radeon boot flags, such as DPM on and off, radeon_lockup_timeout = 20000, without success. Upgrading the kernel version to 4.5.3 and 4.6.0 but it not fixed.
The problem does not occur when i add a delay(such as 1ms using msleep) in the problem scene's draw function.
I thought is the problem of Synchronization between the cpu and gpu using fence , can anyone have some idea?
When using hardware decoding with radeonsi along with mpv I can observe aliasing on rough edges.
It was previously reported on mpv issue tracker
https://github.com/mpv-player/mpv/issues/3317
but the main developer pointed out that the bug is in mesa.
When running without compositor, I get the screen distortion like in the screenshot on my Carrizo. This can be triggered either by disabling the checkbox "Enable compositor on startup" in the kwin config or by enabling "Suspend compositor for full screen windows", start an application in fullscreen like mpv and switch to another virtual desktop. The distortions go away after reenabling the compositor, but I have heavy flickering around the window that has the focus. Switching focus or resizing the window helps temporarily but reappears with every newly opened window. At least logout and re-login into X is needed.
## Description
I am using ArchLinux and when I've first updated mesa to 12.0 when it first came out, my pc has been crashing while watching videos.
My radeon card is kaveri
I tested both vaapi and vdpau and both are affected with this, also i tried different kernels from 4.4 lts to 4.6 and 4.7, it's not any different. Also I tried both smplayer/mpv and vlc and both are affected.
When I've downgraded to mesa 11.2.2-1 and the problem was no more.
So I though if I waited out to see if it gets fixed, but still even though 12.0.3 came out, the problem is still present.
The problem is not really common, if I was watching videos for the whole day my pc would crash only once.
How crash happens is screen goes blank and I can't hear my fans spinning even tho lights are still on indicating that pc is still powered on and pressing any buttons doesn't work except restarting it.
## Description
Hardware: R7 360, Linux x86_64
Screen: 1680x1050
To reproduce this bug, play the "Weather" video at http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather
using Firefox and Adobe's flash-plugin-11.2.202.643-release.x86_64. Ensure that "Hardware acceleration" is enabled, and then enter "Full screen" mode.
On my PC, this results in a black screen with a small, blank rectangle in the top left corner. And then the flash plugin will crash a few minutes later.
This does not happen with either i965 (Broadwell) or r600 (HD6450) hardware. Nor does it happen with Chromium and chromium-pepper-flash-23.0.0.162-1.fc24.x86_64 with my R7 360, although chromium-pepper-flash doesn't appear to use libvdpau_radeonsi.so either.
## Description
I work on an N64 emulator (GLupeN64). I received a report from a user that they had garbled output from the application. They tried it with llvmpipe and it worked.
The issue report is here:
https://github.com/loganmc10/GLupeN64/issues/102
It includes and apitrace and a screenshot.
I had him disable indirect drawing, and in that mode the application will use glDrawElementsBaseVertex instead of glDrawElementsIndirect. He said that that fixed the issue, but it was very slow.
## Description
I recently installed a new Radeon R9 380 and use the amdgpu driver. After some random time my dekstop suddenly freezes, no input (mouse, keyboard, acpi events) is possible. I still can login via ssh from another box and run some commands but I do not see any error messages. Dmesg, .xsession-erros, Xorg.0.log, journalctl are all clean.
I can erform either one of the following steps:
(A) Try to shutdown via the ssh session. I am kicked of from the ssh session (obviously) but the box is is not powered off. Somewhere during the shutdown process the box gets stuck. All the time I still see the frozen desktop. The only option is to forcefully power off the PC by pressing the power button for 3sec.
(B) Do not try to shutdown completely, but initiate a "systemctl rescue". All X11-related stuff is terminated (according to ps -elf), but I still see the frozen desktop. "lsmod" still reports that amdgpu is used by approx. 35 processes. "rmmod amdgpu" kills the machine entirely, after that even my SSH session is stuck, i.e. the shell never returned to its prompt. Any attempt to login via SSH a second time fails. The only option is to forcefully power off.
Image differences of "Space Run" using Mesa13 vs AMDGPU-PRO
Image differences of "Space Run" using Mesa13 vs AMDGPU-PRO
Overview:
There are some possible shader issues when comparing screen shots of "Space Run" with Mesa13 to AMD's AMDGPU-PRO.
Hardware and versions:
The images were captured Using the Mesa 13.0 branch and AMD's AMDGPU-PRO's 16.30 driver. These image differences were observed on both AMD's Rx470 and R9 Fury graphic cards.
Attached Images:
Attached are the captured images.
## Description
I'd be more than happy to provide more information this is my first bug post. The screen goes black. This happens at random times while using the system but can be reproduced faster playing videos. To catch the error I just loaded up netflix for about 5 minutes.
Using Fedora 25 with Mesa 13 and LLVM 3.8 on:
04:00.0 Display controller [0380]: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Venus XTX [Radeon HD 8890M / R9 M275X/M375X] [1002:6820] (rev 81)
identified as "AMD CAPE VERDE" by Mesa. Photo is attached. This is a dual GPU laptop (Lenovo Z51-70), main GPU being
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation HD Graphics 5500 (rev 09)
While corruption happens, dmesg | grep radeon does not show anything suspicious, just:
Should I test LLVM 3.9/4.0-git? Any other info that could be useful?
