Touchpad Palm Rejection insufficient
I posted this elsewhere, but was recommended to start a new issue.
Issue: Libinput does not adequately conduct palm rejection resulting in my cursor getting many unwanted movements, random selections, and improper gesture recognition.
What I expect is that the palm rejection is very close to the behavior on windows. The driver there sufficiently detects my palm and I do not get unwanted movements of the mouse.
I am not sure of the issue, but I cannot find anyway to adjust the palm exclusion zone, palm pressure rejection, or one of the other methods. Disable while typing only marginally helps. A solution to this will be very helpful.
More information:
My computer is a HP Spectre 15 X360 (2017 model without number pad. The "wide" touchpad's right side extends considerably further to the right than on the left. It is impossible to type and not have one's palm hit or rest on the touchpad. Doubtful this helps, but on windows it is reported as: Driver is Synaptics SMBus Touchpad Device ID Syn3244 Compatible IDs: Syn1E00, Syn0002, PNPOF13 HP_GROUP150SGS94UI_InterTouch_Inst Service: i8042prt
Should it help, the mesurements based on location of finger resting keys (F and J) with center line between the G and H keys.
libinput reports the correct touchpad size: 138 x 62mm (My measurements with ruller are 140 x 65mm) Measurements in relation to the keyboard/touchpad:
- left edge to right side of F key: ~27mm (very few issues associated with my left side of touchpad)
- right edge to left side of J key: ~72mm (considerably more -- so the default of 5% exclusion zone is insufficient)
I can send a photo of my keyboard / touchpad if that helps...
Thank You.
