Option to disable a specific device
Summary
An analog to xinput --disable
would be useful for those of us with some misbehaving devices.
This is not a stopper but a regression when compared to Xorg.
Feature details
I own a fairly nice USB headset which presents an input device for the volume keys (Volume Up / Volume Down). It has recently started going crazy, and after ~10 minutes after boot it starts sending "Volume Up" events at a constant rate.
I tucked xinput --disable
in a startup script and forgot about it, until I started using GNOME Wayland.
At the moment I'm doing evtest --grab
which while being a kludge does the job of intercepting those events.
Affected Hardware
I don't claim to cover every use case of this feature. In my case it's an USB Logitech H390 headset.
Implementation in Other Systems
- Xorg provides
xinput --disable
for this;
