With the blessing from the author of !897 here is an alternative to it using the quirk system as a way of choosing which hardware should have its palm detection disabled, if the maintainers of libinput think this is better to go this route instead.
I'm going to say this in advance in case I'm too busy with other things to reply to requests in a timely manner but commits from members are allowed in this branch so please feel free to push, cherry-pick and modify this work any way you want.
