ELAN Touchscreen touch jumps all over the screen making Desktop unusable.
Summary
I use my laptop, and (probably) the touchscreen starts to go nuts. This doesn't happen all the time, but it does happen. Like 2 out of 5 times, when I power on the laptop, I have to face this issue where things are touched automatically without my consent. As a temporary workaround to stop this, I do these things:
-
sudo killall -15 gnome-shell
-----> from virtual console (VTs) -
gesttings set org.gnome.shell disable
-----> from virtual console (VTs) - Put the laptop to sleep by closing the lid (display panel). And wake it up after like 5 minutes.
How to reproduce the issue on a developer machine?
-
Use the laptop in Wayland under Libinput.
-
libinput version: 1.23.0
-
hardware information: Dell Inspiron 5548
cat /sys/class/dmi/id/modalias

Since I don't/barely use the X11 display protocol, I can't say with total confidence whether this buggy situation only appears under Wayland.
Let me know if you need anything else that might help to resolve this issue.
