Different speed/ acceleration on touchpad only horizontally DELL Latitude E7450

Summary

On a DELL Latitude E7450 I only recently see strange behaviour of the touchpad. The acceleration and speed in the horizontal direction is much slower than in vertical direction. When I change the speed settings in GNOME, both directions respond to higher/lower speed settings, but the difference between vertical/horizontal remains.

UPDATE: The issue disappears when I downgrade the linux kernel from 6.2.1 to 6.1.12, so I am probably wrong here. How can I figure out, what breaks the link from kernel to libinput?
