Looking for a libfprint-compatible USB fingerprint sensor

Apologies in advance if it's inappropriate to submit this question as an issue. Could someone recommend a capacitive, touch-operated USB fingerprint reader that can be bought from Amazon/Aliexpress/etc and is supported by the most recent libfprint? Do they even exist?

In my hunt for such a device, I've purchased three different models so far. One turned to be an aftermarket ELAN chip-based unit, another was Synaptics-based, and the 3rd one was this Eikon Reader by UPEK. Only the latter works with libfprint, but it is swipe-operated (vs touch as desired) and seemed to be discontinued by the manufacturer.

I did try customizing the libfprint (from the current master branch) to include my Synaptics-based unit's VID/PIDs, but it's still incompatible, the firmware build is reported to be too old.

In case with the ELAN unit, 04f3:0c28 is even listed as supported but the issue I'm having with it is very similar to #214.

Thanks for any recommendations.
