subparse: WebVTT – Does not play subtitles in .vtt file
Originally reported at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/totem/-/issues/410
system
Fedora 31 GNOME 3.34.4 Totem 1:3.34.1-1.fc31
video
.mp4 Quicktime container 1280 × 720 H.264 (High Profile) 23,98 frames per second 439 kbps
audio
MPEG-4 AAC Stereo 44100 Hz 130 kbps
subtitle file
A AFAIK valid WebVTT file starting like this:
WEBVTT
00:05.672 --> 00:06.714
file
says UTF-8 Unicode text, with CRLF line terminators
STR
- Open the video.
- Choose "Add subtitles" in the menu and choose the file.
What happens
It staggers for one second, then just continues to play. The subtitle is not displayed anywhere.
What should happen
Show subtitle.
If I do the same in VLC (3.0.8) it plays the subtitle correctly.
More information
I started totem from the console and this is the only thing it shows me:
totem

(totem:18312): Gtk-WARNING **: 10:32:32.453: Drawing a gadget with negative dimensions. Did you forget to allocate a size? (node slider owner GtkScale)
