PRIME Synchroni...Hi,
Prime Synchronization seems to be non-functional on my RX 590, and the tearing is driving me insane:
```
andrew@andrew-gentoo-pc ~ % xrandr --properties | grep PRIME
PRIME Synchronization: 1
PRIME Synchronization: 1
PRIME Synchronization: 0
PRIME Synchronization: 0
PRIME Synchronization: 1
```
The 0's are from the connected monitors, the 1's are disconnected outputs.
Using `xrandr --output DP-1-5 --set "PRIME Synchronization" 1` does not change anything.
I also tried toggling the amdgpu.dc boot paramter to 0 and 1, without effect.
What does work, is to force usage of the modesetting driver:
```
Section "Device"
Identifier "modesetting"
Driver "modesetting"
EndSection
```
This results in working Prime Sync and a tear-free display. However the modesetting driver gives me problems with one of the two monitors connected to the iGPU. I get massive screen corruption on that monitor, while the other one is nice and tear-free. (This might be a different unrelated issue though)
```
andrew@andrew-gentoo-pc ~ % glxinfo | grep "OpenGL renderer"
OpenGL renderer string: Radeon RX 590 Series (POLARIS10, DRM 3.36.0, 5.6.7-gentoo, LLVM 9.0.1)
```
This whole setup, same monitors, same configuration, same everything, was working just fine with working Prime Sync before I switched out my Nvidia GTX 1060 with the RX 590.

Using the xfwm4 window manager with '--vblank=xpresent' gives a completely garbled display (but a screenshot is fine) with nouveau.
Note: modesetting and glamor do not work well on that old laptop (Dell M1710 with NV49 GeForce GO) so I am pretty stuck with nouveau.

Currently the machine is running mesa 20.0.4 but issue is the same with 19.3.5. Did not try earliear versions. Also does not matter if I run kernel 5.5.x, 5.6.x or 5.7-rc1. Desktop environment does not matter either IMHO. MATE is used here but already the login screen of lightdm is garbled. I attached a 2nd screenshot what the desktop should looke like.

Previously, return value from `drmIoctl()` was mangled: negative return values were replaced with `-errno` by the following wrapper function as defined in the `xf86drmMode.c`:
```c
static inline int DRM_IOCTL(int fd, unsigned long cmd, void *arg)
{
int ret = drmIoctl(fd, cmd, arg);
return ret < 0 ? -errno : ret;
}
```
Now, this mangling no longer happens, and the check `if (ret == -EINVAL)` after the `drmIoctl()` call is wrong. It should be replaced with `if (ret == -1 && errno == EINVAL)`, which is both correct and follows POSIX semantics for `ioctl(2)`-type functions.
The bug can manifest itself as HW cursor becoming invisible after update from version 18.1.0. I use the radeon driver in three machines (used as X terminals) with different Radeon HD cards with the same problem, so let's concentrate with just one, a 5450 PCI ID 174b:6000. Every time I drag an object (from an internet browser), the server crash. With "drag", I mean that the object becomes transparent (a "sprite") and you can move it. The problem doesn't show doing the same with a different machine with another card and video driver.
I just upgraded from the old X Server 1.19.2 / radeon driver 7.8.0 to the X Server 1.20.4 / radeon driver 19.0.1 to see if the issue was solved, but no. Same problem, but at least the new driver is more verbose in the error report. Please note that I use a huge desktop, 5000x5000px, and the problem seems memory related. Anyway, I use the same dimension with the other video drivers without problems.

I am attaching [Xorg.7.log.xz](/uploads/b91c4ce07870675b1fe00fac288cce89/Xorg.7.log.xz) with full debugging enabled here. It was found while investigating segfaults that [surfaced](https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1808767) due to apparently broken gcc pre-release. The segfaults went away but the failed assertion did not.

I have recently (few weeks) frequent screen freezes with nouveau (NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS) under wayland that need a reboot. It's better with X.org, but I still have those kernel error messages (though the graphical session doesn't completly freeze).
Here are attached examples of kernel messages (here with a realtime 5.4.13-rt kernel, but the same with a non realtime 5.5.13). I'm using ArchLinux.

But do you have any information about that:
I feel that the way X draw on the screen has some problems, like, if I play a video on one screen, all other animate things on the other screen became super slow, like X redraw it only one time per second. But it's not a performance issue because on windows or anywhere else but on X, I can run waayyy more different things without any of them stutter at all
Do you have a clue?https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xorg/driver/xf86-video-nouveau/-/issues/525Xorg faild to commit and terminated2020-03-25T05:15:22ZYangXorg faild to commit and terminated[ 20.898] (EE) modeset(0): drmSetMaster failed: Permission denied
