[NV124, Linux 5.8] Automatic fan control has fans spinning at unreasonbly high speeds
Using Nouveau with automatic fan control, my NV110 GPU (GTX 970)'s fans spin at unreasonably high speeds. They usually sit right below 2000 RPM even though lm-sensors indicate the GPU to be around 30°C, which makes a lot of noise and thus undesirable. Is there a reason why the automatic fan curve looks like this? Is it handled by the firmware? I would find it preferable if it ran at more reasonable speeds by default.
