Black Screen Issue on HP Spectre x360 14 Running Manjaro Linux with Intel Raptor Lake-P [Iris Xe Graphics]
Hello Kernel Developers,
I posted this issue already here, but got redirected to this place.
I am currently experiencing an issue with my HP Spectre x360 14 laptop (Product details: https://www.hp.com/de-de/shop/product.aspx?id=87C50EA&opt=ABD&sel=NTB), which uses the Intel Raptor Lake-P [Iris Xe Graphics] with the i915 driver. The laptop is running Manjaro Linux with the 6.2.0-2-rt3-MANJARO kernel, 64-bit architecture, and GNOME 44.1 as the desktop environment.
The issue I am encountering is that the screen remains black after the laptop goes to sleep or the display turns off due to inactivity. Inputs (such as keyboard presses or mouse movements) still work, but the screen remains black. This problem persists whether I am using an external monitor or the laptop's built-in display.
In an effort to resolve this issue, I have tried several solutions, including:
Modifying GRUB settings to include kernel parameters such as "splash", "apparmor=1", "security=apparmor", "udev.log_priority=3", and "quiet". Adding the "ibt=off" parameter to the kernel to disable the Indirect Branch Tracking CPU security feature. Adjusting power management settings such as disabling global cstate in BIOS and enabling deep sleep. None of these solutions have resolved the issue.
A complete record of my attempts to resolve this issue, including a discussion with an AI assistant from OpenAI, can be found at this link: https://chat.openai.com/share/72766d76-d2ff-4590-98e2-aa1b0dfc4214
I believe this may be a bug in the Linux kernel's handling of the Intel Raptor Lake-P [Iris Xe Graphics] driver. I would greatly appreciate any assistance you can provide to help identify and resolve this issue. Please let me know if you need any additional information to help diagnose or address this problem.
Thank you for your time and support.
Best regards,
Kevin
