i915 - context reset due to GPU hang while running blender
A clear subject describing the issue:
- GPU hang while using blender. Fedora 36 system, fully updated, entire display will hang/freeze for several (~15) seconds. All display activity stops including mouse movement and the clock at the top of the Gnome shell. GPU hang messages appear in the system journal at the time of the issue.
Steps to reproduce the issue:
- Almost any modeling operation in Blender will cause the issue after a few minutes.
How often does the steps listed above trigger the issue? For example: always, 1 out 3 times.
- Can't say exactly, but fairly frequently recently.
Which platforms and features are affected (if you can).
- My platform is Fedora 36.
The following information about your system:
- System architecture: ("uname -m"): x86_64
- Kernel version: ("uname -r"): 5.17.11-300.fc36.x86_64
- Linux distribution: Fedora 36
- Machine or mother board model (use dmidecode if needed): Dell XPS 13 9360
- Display connector: (such as HDMI, DP, eDP, ...): laptop screen
- A full dmesg with debug information and/or a GPU crash dump: Attached.
In the case of a GPU hang, dmesg will contain a "GPU crash dump saved to /sys/class/drm/card0/error" message. The contents of that file are crucial to debugging the issue. : Attached.
Note that a new bug is preferred over adding your GPU crash dump to an already open bug. Most often the cause for the GPU hangs are different, and it is easy for the developers to mark bugs as duplicate.
- New bug/issue submitted.
