Freezing and slowdowns observed on kernels 5.15.3 and 5.14.18.
I have an HP Pavilion - 15-cs2051od equipped with an Intel® Core™ i7-8565U CPU and Intel® UHD Graphics 620 (WHL GT2). I am running Fedora 35 with Gnome 41 Wayland though the issue has also been observed in Fedora 34 and openSuse Tumbleweed (kernel 5.15.2).
The issue first manifests as my fan ramping up to max speed, my laptop then begins to overheat, lag and intermittently freeze. These problems persist for hours upon hours until a reboot. From then on, the issue may repeat itself mere minutes after the reboot though it sometimes takes an hour or two for it to return.
I have observed that a single CPU thread (usually thread 0) ramps up to its maximum frequency until the PC is powered off.
The following errors are given when "journalctl -f" is typed into the terminal. I have observed that the onset of these error messages consistently coincide with the onset of the issue without exception:
My GPU crash dump says that no error state has been collected.
Here is the full dmesg log: dmesg.txt
I am unable to reproduce the issue. It is seemingly random. The issue is quite severe, it renders my computer unusable and the frequency at which at repeats itself (often mere minutes after a reboot) is very problematic.
