Inreased power consumption [2W] after unknown sequence of events
After unknown event with some graphical side effects but no known cause, power usage of the whole machine is increased. There are 2 (rarely 3) symptoms.Symptom 1 is always followed by symptom 2 and then the powerconsumption increases, sometimes (only observed 2 times on thismachine) symptom 3 follows. Symptoms are as follows:(1) display goes blank for a few seconds(2) there is a message in the kernel log: [drm:intel_cpu_fifo_underrun_irq_handler [i915]] *ERROR* CPU pipe A FIFO underrun(3) there is another message from the DRM in the kernel log: [drm] Reducing the compressed framebuffer size. This may lead to less power savings than a non-reduced-size. Try to increase stolen memory size if available in BIOS.================================================================================Machine specs:https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/boards-kits/nuc/kits/nuc8i3beh.htmlDisplay:- xdpyinfo | grep -A3 '^screen'screen #0: dimensions: 3840x2160 pixels (600x340 millimeters) resolution: 163x161 dots per inch depths (7): 24, 1, 4, 8, 15, 16, 32================================================================================Power usage increase is measured by a "Kill A Watt"-like watt meterthat sits between the power outlet and NUC, sampling RAPL(/sys/devices/virtual/powercap/intel-rapl/intel-rapl:0/energy_uj)every 3 seconds also shows increased numbers.Prior to the event watt meter reports ~3 watts of power cosumption, after the event the consumption never drops below 5 watts.================================================================================- pacman -Q linux xf86-video-intellinux 5.6.15.arch1-1xf86-video-intel 1:2.99.917+908+g7181c5a4-1https://www.archlinux.org/packages/extra/x86_64/xf86-video-intel/https://www.archlinux.org/packages/core/x86_64/linux/- grep -v '^#' /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.confSection "Device" Identifier "intel" Driver "intel" Option "TearFree" "on"EndSection
