Thermal shutdown
Hello.
I have an issue with a thermal shutdown occurring during playing games. I have previously had it with ARK:Survival Evolved and now it is occurring regularly playing Baldur's Gate 3. There is nothing blocking the graphics card's exhaust (or any other exhaust) so overheating seems rather odd. In the event that the card itself is of bad thermal design, I still feel the correct behaviour is for the driver to throttle down rather than run it straight into the thermal limit. The card is not overheating when not being used for gaming, so throttling down should be a resolution in this case.
The machine shuts down unexpectedly whilst playing Baldur's Gate 3. journalctl has this to say:
Aug 09 23:12:35 lilav kernel: amdgpu 0000:09:00.0: amdgpu: ERROR: GPU over temperature range(SW CTF) detected!
Aug 09 23:12:35 lilav kernel: amdgpu 0000:09:00.0: amdgpu: ERROR: System is going to shutdown due to GPU SW CTF!
Computer specifications: Manjaro Linux LTS running kernel 6.1.41-1 (Updated prior to the above journalctl error) AMD Radeon RX 6650 XT (RADV NAVI23) AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 6-Core Processor
Other issues mention this error but either the solution has not been found (e.g. here) or there was not much response from developers (e.g. here).
