AMD Ryzen 7 6850U does not detect external display correctly via USB4

Preface

I'd like to preface this bug report by saying I'm not 100% sure this falls under your purview. I think it might, but if it isn't I would appreciate being pointed in the right direction.

Brief summary of the problem:

I bought a Thinkpad X13 with an AMD Ryzen 6850U and USB4 support. I am under the impression that USB4 is backwards compatible with Thunderbolt 3. I have a TB3 docking station where every peripheral device works aside from the external monitor. Different kernel versions exhibit different behavior, which I outline in the table below.

When I originally installed Fedora 36 onto my machine, it came with kernel version 5.17.x. I have also tried kernels 5.19.9 and 6.0.0-rc6. On none of these kernels does my machine recognize the display it's connected to. Plugging this display directly into the device, either via HDMI or via a USB-C to HDMI dongle works as expected.

I saw a similar, but not identical, bug report in #2064 (closed). I tried using both Wayland and X with identical results. My work machine (Macbook M1) and previous personal machine (Intel Dell XPS 15) both work with this display and docking station flawlessly, so I don't believe it to be an issue with any of the peripherals.

Plug display into TB3 docking station. Plug X13 into docking station via TB3 cable.
